Almost Done
April 24th, 2004
Well, I am nearing the end of the GRIND. I started a job that was supposed to last 4 to 6 weeks right after Valentines Day. I am still there! The company I work for laid off half of the workforce on Friday. I didn’t make the cut. I foresee another week. But I have been saying that for almost a month so I’ll know when it happens.
This constant 125 miles a day, to and from, has been a real drag. Last Tuesday I was driving to work and hit a safety cone. Then two days later, my exhaust pipe cracked and now my car sounds like crap. A couple muffler shops told me the pipe is a dealer only item. Their cost to fix it is over $350. I have been going to the dealer to get my oil changed since I bought my little hot rod anyway so I called and the part is a little over $200. One of the muffler places I called said they would install for $60. Seems the cheapest way out.
Last night, LTJ Bukem spun records at a local club. Since he is the first artist in that genre of music I listened to, Drum And Bass, I was inspired to go. I called a few times to get a reserved ticket ($20) I never got through. The door was either $30 or $40 at the time of the show. The money isn’t the issue, obviously, I have been making plenty. It’s the principle that they even offer a reserve price then never answer the damned phone! Is it just me? Anyway, I got home from work and ate early. Then, instead of getting in the shower and getting dressed, I WENT TO BED. We are talking 8:00 P.M. I woke up at the customary 4: A.M. That is good for a normal workday, however, I have today off. Thank goodness for Sunday. I bet the show was fab. I am not really a club kind of guy, though, so I don’t feel too bad about missing the show. I also didn’t want to drive downtown in my loud assed car that sounds like crap. No Worries!
When I am not working this job, I will blog more. Thanks for sticking with me.
