Some things just have a way of showing you that all is well in the world. I believe this is the case with The Kid. He is Arizona’s newest 152 pound, 5-A champion! After literally years of hard work, he has grabbed the golden ring with both hands and put it in his pocket. After more stress than I care to admit, from watching, the underdog has emerged victorious. I couldn’t be more proud if he were my kid.
The Mesa High team did really well. Pedro Ballestros (160 pounder) and Alberto Montes (189 pounder) took second in state. Christian Gonzalez (215 pounder) took fourth place. Last but certainly not least, Anthony Robles took sixth in state at 103 pounds. The remarkable thing about Robles is, he only has one leg. Like I mentioned earlier, here is a great article about him.
A bit more justice? I started a new job today. Fun first day, hard, productive. Not as many hours as promised, hopefully they will hold up their end of the deal.
