Great Dreams

November 8th, 2003

Many years of my life, I didn’t dream or couldn’t remember my dreams. They finally returned when I stopped smoking pot. Since then, I have really fallen back in love with the storytime I have in my sleep. I have learned there are things I can do to make them more accessible to my waking life. Sleeping a bit more is one thing. Focusing on wanting to remember them when I wake up, as I fall asleep, is another.

There are a couple of other funny things that have made a real difference to me in this area. One is Harry Potter. I love the Harry Potter books and when I am reading them, I seem to have very fun, wonderful, magical dreams. I know I am not alone in this, I have talked to others who tell me this is part of their reality as well. A couple months ago, I got the fifth book in the series. I read it and felt lost most of the book. It referred back to the previous books so much; I felt I was missing out on much of the background because it had been so long since I had read the earlier books. Since then, I started reading them over. I have read the first 3 and am in the middle of the fourth now.

Another thing I have noticed enhances the quality of my dreams is what I have for dinner. Namely, sushi. I love sushi and have often noticed when I eat it, I have very fun, often exceptionally bizarre dreams.

Well, to get to the point of today’s blog entry. I got to watch the final chapter of The Matrix series. I really loved the first movie. I can’t say exactly why the original movie had such a tremendous impact on me, just that it did. I really couldn’t see it enough when it first came out. I bet I’ve seen it at least 30 times (so far). So today I got to see the rest of the story, as Paul Harvey would say and it was FANTASTIC!! I was so moved, I came out of the theatre in a haze. Like I was somehow a different person for the experience. I cannot say enough about this film. I cant wait to see it again!

After the movie, my buddy and I went and had sushi for dinner.

Look out, pillow, here I come! I can’t wait to see the dreams for tonight!
